Primitive Cabinets For A Southern Ohio Log Home

A Log Cabin Gets A Custom Kitchen With Primitive Cabinets

Our client's home is a reproduction log cabin hidden in the woods of Southern Ohio. The 1990s home they built had a run-of-the-mill kitchen that was in need of an update that matched the style of the house. The clients searched for a custom kitchen designer and builder of early American, primitive-style kitchens to fit the style of their home—the early American, primitive-style kitchen blends into their home surrounded by many antiques and collectibles. Period Designs Company was able to match the color of the cabinets with the home's trim. The original hardwood floors were installed after the kitchen cabinets, and the client's hardwood floors were no longer available. This required that the cabinets be designed in and around the flooring. The clients chose inset doors and a glass accent style cabinet with repurposed historic wavy glass used in our true divided light glass doors. The clients also chose an accent shelf under the cabinets, and we added under the cabinet lighting to highlight their granite countertops. We had the sink designed to fit our cabinets. Altogether, they come together to create a feel that seems like it was always a part of the home.
